The purpose of this study was to propose a new method of evaluating underground reservoir properties by grain boundary fracturing model. That was another choice to prove hardly known underground stratum properties. When tensile strength is low, the inter-granular combination in the micro-structure of rock is weak. In fracturing, cracks will proceed along the edge of integranular interface and will cause the whole grain exposed to the surface of fractured particles. The exposed grains would be easily loose because of the lower inter-granular combination force. This study used the grain boundary fracturing model to calculate the degree of grain boundary fracturing after fracturing. This index can be utilized to evaluate the tensile strength of underground rock, which is applicable to the judging of gas input and output operation of a reservoir.
