Representation and Authenticity of Taiwan's Aboriginal Architectural Heritage

摘要

Taiwan's Aboriginal traditional buildings have been almost entirely replaced by brick or reinforced concrete structures through of modernization and acculturation. Representing Aboriginal architectural heritage through reconstruction may help people to understand ancestral wisdom and traditional values. In the 1980s two cultural villages were developed in Taiwan to represent Aboriginal architectural heritage. The Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village (FACV) established by a private tourist enterprise, while the Taiwan Indigenous Culture Park (TICP) was developed by a governmental department. Issues of authenticity are gaining increasing attention and significance because the heritage representation in cultural villages is very frequently criticized as superficial and lacking authenticity. Focusing on the replicated houses, this study explores how the two sites pursued their authenticity through the reconstruction and representation of Taiwan's Aboriginal architectural heritage. This study performs a documentary review, in-depth interviews with the planners and officers of the two sites, as well as the photographic comparison of the survey data from Japanese researcher Chijiiwa Suketaro with the replicated houses, in order to interpret the complicated and dynamic interrelations between the authenticity and representation of Taiwan's Aboriginal architectural heritage through specific planning concepts, policies, regulations, strategies and approaches within their political, cultural and economic circumstances.

臺灣原住民傳統建築在現代化與文化同化的過程中，幾乎已被磚造與混凝土建築所取代，而透過複製建造以再現傳統建築遺產，乃成為一種讓人們了解先民智慧與傳統價值的可行方法。西元80年代臺灣發展了兩座再現原住民建築遺產的文化村，一座是由私人遊憩企業開發的九族文化村，另一座是由政府部門發展的臺灣原住民族文化園區。由於文化村的遺產再現常被批評為膚淺且缺乏真實性，遺產重現之真實性的議題乃越來越受到關注，並顯示初其再要性。本研究針對兩個園區的建築，探討其如何在重建的過程中，建構原住民建築遺產再現的真實性。透過文獻回顧以及對規劃者與行政者深度訪談，並對日籍學者千千岩助太郎的調查文獻資料與園區複製重建的建築進行照片比對分析，本研究探討與詮釋兩個園區在其政治文化與經濟的整體情境下，如何透過規劃理念、政策、法規、與執行策略，以建構臺灣原住民建築遺產再現的真實性，並詮釋此再現與真實性之間複雜與變動的關係。
