Temperature- and Frequency-Dependence of Ultrasonic Velocity and Absorption in Insulator Oils

並列摘要

In a temperature range from 20°C to 69°C and at frequency from 0.5 h4Hz to 66 MHz, the temperature-and the frequency-dependence of ultrasonic velocity and absorption in Esso's and Daikyô's insulator oils are measured, and the tangential loss is calculated. The velocity and the tangential loss decrease as temperature increases, and the velocity increases with increasing frequency The absorption decreases as temperature or frequency increasesIn order to avoid the experimental errors, cares should be taken in measuring procedures, i.e. the flow in the oils produced by thermal convection should be avoided, the parallelism between two transducers should be carefully maintained, the parallax in indicator and the Fresnel's region should be noticed also, and so on.
