The effect of cubic to tetragonal transformation of intermetallic compoundson superconductivity is examined. Calculation is made with a hlaf-filled triplydegenerate T2, band. It is found that these two mechanisms compete with eachother with one depressing the other. The modification of the elastic strain e inthe superconducing tetragonal phase and the reduction in tboth the superconductingtransition temperature Tc nd the B. C. S. gap parameter A caused by tetragonaldistortion are discussed.
