Lattice Dynamics of the Hydrogen Halide Crystals

A lattice dynamical model for three of the four hydrogen halide molecular crystals in their low temperature phase Ill has been investigated by using the Born-Van Karman model with different interatomic force constants and the results are compared to observed zone centre (q=O) frequencies (Raman). This simple model is also used to estimate those hydrogen bond strengths in different crystals.
