The standard model of particle physics is tremendously successful. It has a precise mathematical framework and describes almost all physics. But the standard model does not answer some of the most fundamental questions, such as the origin of the mass, the origin of CP violation, etc. To answer these questions new physics beyond the standard model is needed. In this article we describe briefly the effective Lagrangian which is a model independent approach to physics beyond the standard model. We give a brief review of some of the work being done in this approach and summarize the work I have involved.
