The components on the market in Taiwan with respect to China-fir (Cunninghamia lanceolata) includes domestic China-fir produced primarily by public and private forestlands in Taiwan and one imported from the mainland China. In this market, spruce-pine-fir (SPF) from Canada and radiata pine from Newzeland are also introduced as competitors. While it is not benefical to domestic China-fir because of its higher price on the market, however, based on its highest quality among the competitors, indicated by most firms investigated in Taiwan, the domestic China-fir still has its perspective in the market share. This study indicates that China-fir is used primarily for the concrete form in the building. In addition, products such as pole, board, flooring, wall panel, and lumber are also available from China-fir. Due to the low incentive to reforestation in the private forestland owners, the main program of reforestation in China-fir should be focused on the national forests to avoid the shortage of supply in China-fir in Taiwan in the future.
