摘要

自從美國柯林頓政府提出“國家資訊基礎建設”（NII）以來，世界各國均熱烈提出討論。國內政府與資訊界亦密集舉辦各類研討會，探討如何建立我國的資訊基礎建設。本文重點不在探討資訊基礎建設的建立，而是探索在未來資訊基礎建設建立後，社會生活會有什麼改變？在如此的環境中，公共圖書館及本館將如何因應，以符未來之需求，並希望藉此文的提出，能有拋磚引玉之效，並引起大家對此一問題之探討與深思，而不是繼續在書目資料交換問題上打轉。

Since President Clinton in U.S. nation has proposed the policy ”NII”, this topic has being discussed worldwidely and persistently. In our country, several seminars are being held for how to build up our NII as a matter of great importance. But, instead of discussing how to build up our NII, we would look forward further to the thereafter-our life will change accordingly. Under such circumstances, a public library would go for a properly tunning in order to fit in the future life, such as the. Taipei Municipal Library. We deeply hope that this is not only the beginning but also the construction part on this project. There should be no more data exchanging problems in vain.
