摘要
CETH（The Center for Electronic Texts in the Humanities）成立於1991年10月，由羅吉斯大學（Rutgers University）與普林斯頓大學（Princeton University）負責，為美國境內熱衷於人文科學方面電子文件的創作、傳播及使用的人們提供一個全國性的中心。本文主要在介紹人文科學電子文件中心（CETH）的發展及主要活動，並比較CETH與TEI計劃及SGML標準的關係，希望藉此了解國外電子文件的編碼工作情況及相關的問題。

The Center for Electronic Texts in the Humanities (CETH) was established by Rutgers and Princeton Universities to provide a national focus for all who are involved in the creation, dissemination and use of Electronic Texts in the Humanities. This article is aimed exploring- the issue of development and activities of CETH. The author also intends to co pare the relations of the CETH, TEI, and SGML, to discover the problems of Electro Texts encoding.
