基金籌募在西方社會是由來已久的傳統，且在美國圖書館的歷史上扮演著舉足輕重的角色；對大多數學術圖書館與私立圖書館而言尤為如此。由於近年來運作公共圖書館的費用漸增而政府資金來源愈顯不足，尋求民間財源的支持在美國公共圖書館界變得越來越重要。本篇文章旨在報導並發掘公共圖書館籌募基金的各種方式。

Fund raising has been a long tradition in the western society and it has played a significant role in the history of American libraries , mostly academic libraries and private libraries. Due to mounting cost of operating public libraries and insufficient government funding in recent years , seeking financial support from private sources become increasingly critical among American public libraries. This article reports and explores ways of fund raising for public libraries.
