摘要

在即將邁入二十一世紀之際，臺北市立動物園草擬了動物認養計畫，期望能強化遊客對相關保育計畫的參與及支持。該計畫以物種的等價齊觀、養者的機會平權及本土的自然保育為設計主軸，勾勒出動物園需肩負起貫串移地復育與就地保育的責任，並將其成果反應至展示場設計、動物日常照管、保育教育與經營管理等層面。顯見動物認養活動的成功與否，終將驗證臺北市立動物園的存續價值。

In year 2000, a comprehensive animal adoption program was proposed by Taipei Zoo to strengthen the visitor s supports of wildlife conservation programs that have been conducted or will be soon activated. Three designing principles behind this program are wildlife born in equal; visitor s equal opportunity for participation; and conservation of biodiversity, especially the native wildlife. Knowledge gained from both in-situ and ex-situ studies will be applied to zoo designs, animal daily husbandry, educational activities and management works. We foresee a close relationship between the success of the animal adoption program and the continuous values of Taipei Zoo existence.
