This pilot-study was focused on volunteer management in Metropolitan area-Taipei Public Library (TPL). There are 1,608 volunteers in TPL, including regular volunteers, storytelling volunteers, English-speaking volunteers, volunteers for the visually impaired, and volunteers for the promotion of reading. This study collected 39 questionnaires out of 48 volunteer managers currently work in main library and branches of TPL in June 2013. The results indicated that in managers' opinion, the service performance and expectation of volunteers demonstrated by different gender, age and years of service. In addition, most volunteer managers showed desires for legislation trainings that promote volunteerism and strong needs to learn to computing the dollar value of volunteer time, work for long-range planning and implementation of volunteer recruitment and retention.
