Posterior sagittal anorectoplasy (P.S.A.R.P.) is thought to be an ingeniously designed procedure of treating high type imperforate anus. From 1985 to 1989, 9 patients underwent this procedure in our hospital: 5 as primary treatment, 4 for treatment of fecal incontinence following a prior pull-through procedure. Follow up of these cases last for 6 months to 5 years. All of the 5 primary cases obtained continence at 6 months to 4 years postoperatively. Only 1 of the 4 re-do cases resumed his continuance. Five patients developed 8 complications, included to be 6 minor and 2 major complications. In this report, we present our clinical experience on this procedure and describe the occurrence of complications.
