During the period 1981-1992, crescentic (rapidly progressive) glomerulonephritis (CrGN) was diagnosed in 10 patients, comprising 1.6 per cent of 630 patients in total with pathology-proved glomerular disorders in Tri-Service General Hospital. Among them, six were idiopathic CrGN, the remainder being membranoproliferative GN (one case), membranous GN (one case), lupus nephritis (two cases) as underlying renal disorders. The clinical profiles, pathologic futures and outcome of treatment of these cases were analyzed. T he results show that nephrotic-range proteinuria, frequent immune-associated conditions, extremely unfavorable outcomes and frequent lack of glomerular fibrin deposition were commonly encountered in this series.
