There were 447 patients with 451 displaced fractures of the femoral neck treated with Bateman bipolar Hemiarthroplasty (190 cemented and 261 uncemented). After an average follow-up of at least two years, there were less thigh pain, higher Harris hip score and radiologically there was less radiolucent zone and subsidence in the cemented group. Heterotopic ossification was more common in the cemented gropu (p-0.014). The cemented group hd longer operation time (average 20min) and more blood loss (average 160cc.) Nevertheless, the early mortality rate was statistically in-significantly different (p=0.23) in both groups.
