Subtalar dislocation, a rare injury of the foot, classically involves incongruity of the talocalcaneal and talonavicular joints, whereas the calcaneocuboid and tibiotalar joints remain unaffected. The description of this injury is based on the relationship of the resultant foot to the leg and ankle; of which, the subtalar joint most commonly dislocates in the medial direction. Most of the subtalar dislocations may be reduced in a closed manner; nonetheless, 10-20% of cases require surgical management for proper reduction. In addition, associated fractures of tarsal bones were occasionally noted. We report a case of a closed medial subtalar dislocation with concomitant fractures of talar head and posterior process, which required an open reduction.
