Femoral component fracture is a rare complication of total hip arthroplasty. The prevalence reported by American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons in 1995 was 0.27%. (superscript 3,6) Most fractures of femoral component had occurred at the middle third. Here, we present a case of prosthetic neck fracture within the taper of a modular cobalt-chromium alloy stem. To date, only five cases of prosthetic neck fractures had been reported. A contributing factor to the prosthetic failures may be due to frequent dislocation.
