Synthesis of Novel Siloxane Room Temperature Liquid Crystalline

摘要


此篇文章目的為合成室溫型含矽氧烷之液晶材料,以4'-hydroxybiphenyl-4-yl 4-hydroxybenzoate為核心,在旋光基的選擇上使用了butyl 2-hydroxypropanoate,並在非旋光末端基加上矽氧烷,並對矽氧烷是否影響液晶相轉移行為及液晶相進行研究觀察。在實驗中利用偏光顯微鏡(polarizing optical microscope, POM)、示差掃描式卡計(differential scanning calorimeter, DSC)、X射線繞射儀(X-ray diffraction, XRD)進行化合物液晶相的鑑定與討論,發現該液晶澄清點溫度有下降的趨勢,並具有寬廣的液晶相溫度範圍,並於文中進一步探討該液晶結構對於液晶相(SmC*)的影響。

This article's goal was to analyze the synthesis of room temperature liquid crystal materials with low molar mass organosiloxane. The structures contain 4'-hydroxybiphenyl-4-yl 4-hydroxybenzoate core and chiral butyl 2-hydroxypropanoate unit, and organosiloxane on the end of the achiral molecules. A few novel series of room temperature compounds were synthesized, and the mesophases exhibited by them were compared. The mesophases under discussion were investigated using polarizing microscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, and X-ray diffraction. The substituent had a strong influence in reducing the clearing temperatures and increasing temperature range. The influence of the molecular structure on the occurrence of the SmC* phase was investigated in the article.
