國立空中大學教科書數位化可行性研究

The Feasibility Study of Digitalized Textbooks Published by National Open University

摘要


為瞭解國立空中大學紙本教科書數位化出版之可行性,本研究針對實際使用教材的空大學生進行紙本式問卷與網路問卷調查,對教職員進行訪談調查。研究結論如下:充分瞭解空中大學教職員生所期望的教科書出版載體是以傳統的「紙本教科書」列為首選。紙本教科書目前雖然是教職員生的首選,但進行數位化之可行性頗高。本研究調查顯示,現階段空大教科書出版應以紙本與數位化同步並行方式進行為宜。教科書數位化出版運用POD隨選印刷機制與網路線上出版方式,可解決學生買不到書的情形,並落實環保觀念,節省紙張及印刷成本;應可建立空大教科書出版之實質「零庫存」管理理念。教科書數位化可使得內文之修訂、勘誤、改版工作更為快速方便。若要進行數位化,應製訂相關數位規格如PDF格式及數位化作業標準。教材數位化的落實,可做為未來空大廣播、電視等影像視訊教材數位化網路連結之基礎,提升將來空大數位教材同步與非同步的教學效益。

This study is intended to explore the feasibility of the textbooks in the format of digital publishing to be employed by NOU. This study is conducted via the survey of the NOU students and the interviews with the faculty members and administrators. The students can express their opinions in the two different ways, either via an online questionnaire, referred to as the online group, or with a hardcopy, referred to as the hardcopy group. The results of this study indicate the following major findings: After performing the survey, we found out that the students and faculty members in NOU prefer paper text the most. Statistically, paper textbooks are still what both the students and faculty members online survey. This research shows that currently in NOU, both paper and digitalized textbooks should be utilized in the same pace. Digitalizing textbooks utilizes POD (Published On Demand) and online publication. This could solve the problem of students unable to purchase the required textbooks, and it is also environmentally friendly, saving papers and printing costs. It should be able to build on the management idea of actual ”zero storage” textbook publication. It is strongly recommended that digitalizing textbooks can speed up the process of editing, reviewing, and renewal of a textbook's life cycle. It is recommended that the PDF file format can be considered as the standard of the NOU textbooks of digital publishing. It is concluded that the textbook in the digital format that link to the development of the digital media and contents can lay a solid ground for integrating with the online learning in the future.
