Coprophilous ascomycetes is a group of fungi specially growing on animal dung. In Taiwan, Sawada (1931) was the first to describe a coprophilous species, Aleurina nigrodisca which was growing on buffalo dung. Later, Liou and Chen (1977, 1979) reported 20 species of discomycetes and 16 species of pyrenomycetes. Starting from 1992, investigations of coprophilous ascomycetes were initiated by this museum. Since then, a total 90 coprophilous species were collected. Among them, four new species of discomycetes were published, and one new pyrenomycetes is prepared to be published.
