The purpose of this study was to examine and compare the time use and quality of life of mothers of young children with cerebral palsy with that of mothers of typically developing children. A diary-log was used to measure the participants´ time use during a weekday and the health-related quality of life was measured with the WHOQOL-BREF Taiwanese version. Data from 30 mothers of children with cerebral palsy and 30 mothers of typically developing children were analyzed. Mothers of children with cerebral palsy were found to spend more time in caring children with cerebral palsy and engage less in caring others, continuing education and rest than the comparison group. Mothers of children with cerebral palsy scored lower in domains of physical health and environment of the WHOQOL-BREF. The results of this study would remind clinicians to care of the daily occupations of the caregivers who have children with disabilities and provide necessary interventions to improve their quality of life. The whole families' quality of life will be facilitated.
