Inflammatory pseudo tumor of the spleen is a rare, benign entity of unknown etiology. It composes of variable mixture of inflammatory cells and myofibroblast. It is frequently misdiagnosed as malignant neoplasm or other benign tumors. Splenectomy is diagnostic and curative. We report a 43 year-old male hepatitis B carrier found to have a splenic mass by routine ultrasonography. The imaging studies could not make a definitive diagnosis, so he underwent splenectomy. The histology revealed inflammatory pseudotumor. The post-operative course was uneventful. We also review the clinical and pathological features, treatment, and prognosis of previously reported cases.
