Compression behavior and confinement effect of high strength steel fiber reinforced concrete columns are discussed in this study. By changing transverse reinforcement spacing and steel fiber volume fraction, the confinement efficiency provided by stirrups and fibers can be further investigated. The toughness ratio regression formula for steel fiber reinforced concrete columns is also proposed and verified by the experimental results. The empirical equation proposed in this study shows good agreement with the test results and could be applied for estimation of fiber dosage to substitute for transverse reinforcement.
