This study experimentally investigated the improvement of bond strength for concrete incorporating high volume class F fly ash. Concrete mixtures made with 0%, 25% and 60% replacement of cement with fly ash were prepared. Water-cementitious material ratios ranged from 0.28 to 0.72. Test results indicate that, at the age of 28 days, the bond strength for concrete incorporating fly ash is 0.8 MPa ~ 2.5 MPa higher than that of the control specimen, and is 1.7 MPa ~ 3.7 MPa higher at the age of 56 days. The bond strength for concrete incorporating fly ash is higher than those of control specimen, and it increases with the increase of fly ash content and test age. This phenomenon can be found in concrete with and without confinement. It can be sure that adding fly ash in concrete can improve the bond strength for concrete.
