This article is a reflection on Zen Master Yi-Xing's book ”Living Buddha, Living Christ”. The book emphasizes the similarities between Christ and Buddha. From these similarities it is concluded that a sincere faith is important. As long as you do what you believe and believe what you do, there isn't a great difference between in whether you believe in Christ or Buddha. However, due to the fact that the author is a pious Zen master, when he compares Christ with Buddha, he tends to lean toward The Buddha, subjugating Christ to a secondary level. All characteristics that the Buddha possesses, he finds in Christ. Anything Christ possesses that the Buddha doesn't, he ignores or considers inappropriate. Therefore, the author doesn't concern himself with Christianity's basic notions of the resurrection and the trinity. This article on one hand contends that in implementing faith, Christianity and Buddhism have some similarities, however, their basic teachings have some marked differences that cannot be denied. From ”Living Buddha, Living Christ”, I will consider another author, Paul Tillich, who emphasizes the similarities between Catholicism and Protestantism. Tillich advances from faith’s ”ultimate concern” to the notion of ”total commitment”, giving practical faith an undeniable cornerstone. Even though Protestantism and Catholicism have similarities, they also have some glaring differences. Finally, this article would like to summarize four major points of the Catholic faith: 1.Jesus Christ as the focal point of faith. 2.Faith in the Eschatology. 3.Faith in the benevolent providence of God. 4.Faith in ultimate salvation.
