This paper is an attempt to analyze the anti-intellectual tradition in Chinese Philosophy by studying the concept of ”Dao” in both Confucianism and Daoism. The analysis of ”Dao” and its subsequent studies on the cause of the anti-intellectual tendencies in Chinese Philosophy, shows that this anti-intellectual attitude, even though directed against epistemolgoy, was in reality an attack on value theory. Chinese Philosophy is not grounded on a philosophy of religion, but on humanism.
