Nature and Environmental Protection in the Huai Nan Zi

摘要

This paper attempts to interpret the ontological meaning of the natural idea with regard to environmental philosophy. It is based on ”Huai Nan, Yuan Dao” and is divided into three sections.
Initially, it would like to explore the relationship between Daoism's notion of nature, ”zi ran” and ideas in environmental philosophy. The second section includes four parts: a)An explanation of nature, ”zi ran” in the ”Huai Nan Zi”. b)Summarizing the main ontological characteristics of the Dao as ”arche” in the ”Yuan Dao” c)Introducing the practical aspects of nature, ”zi ran” in the ”Huai Nan Zi” d)Further explanation on environmental consciousness in the ”Huai Nan Zi”.
In conclusion, I would like to evaluate and reflect on all above interpretations. Then I would like to offer some references from the ”Huai Nan Zi” for the consideration of modern environmental philosophy.
