因明的三支論式與三段論之比較

A Comparison between Tryavayava and Syllogism

摘要


三支論式與三段論的關係一直是學界爭論的話題。本文根據詞項外延之間的關係對三支論式的推論機制做出了細緻的分析,將三支論式和三段論進行了對比,並對因明學說和亞里斯多德的邏輯學說作出了比較,提出,三支論式是一種不同於三段論的演繹推理,但由於未能從語言中概括出命題形式,因明對於推理的研究始終未能脫離對事理和知識的討論,因而也未能發展成獨立於論辯術和知識論的邏輯學說。

The relation between tryavayava and syllogism has long been a heavily debated topic among scholars. The thesis analyses the mechanism of tryavayava in terms of relations among extensions of lexical items, compares tryavayava with syllogism, makes systematic comparison between hetuvidya and Aristotelian logic theory. The author suggests that tryavayava is a kind of deductive inference different from syllogism; because hetuvidya has not abstract proposition forms from natural language, its study on inference, throughout the history, cannot be separated from the discussion of the principles of facts and of knowledge, hence, has not developed into logic theory independent of forensics and epistemology.
