This essay on the one hand presents intellectual readings of Frankfurt school in Taiwan, and on the other hand, it presents a highly integration between the academic community and political reality, especially when the state apparatus is anti-communism, fearful of Marxism, the Frankfurt school's ideas and publications constituted a kind of intellectual weapons, resisting or confronting ideology of the ruling power, composing an interesting contour. This study is from the ”effective history” perspective of hermeneutics, describes the reception process of Frankfurt School or critical Theory in Taiwan. the reception of Frankfurt School in Taiwan is closely related to the democracy movement in Taiwan during the 1980s. Not only does it represented an ideological critique of party-state capitalism regime, and develop an intellectual movement that appeals to civil society.
