摘要

在二十世紀中國哲學家群體中，方東美是一位具有世界眼光和現代意識的人物。他在中西文化激烈交鋒，諸家爭鳴的中國現代文化思潮的總體背景下，堅持中國文化的本位立場，同時吸納西方哲學，為中國哲學的現代轉折和創新，開關了新的道路。有論者指出，方東美的哲學路線代表了一種「先理解西方，再回頭重建傳統」的精神方向，所謂「後五四建設心態」。方東美哲學體現了融貫東西，涵攝眾家，被以中國文化為本位的特徵，代表了中國哲學在現代條件下尋求重建與發展的一種嘗試與方向。

Among the Chinese Philosophers in the 20th century, Thome Fang was a great master who had a universal eyesight and contemporary thought. On the whole background of Chinese contemporary cultural thoughts, in which Chinese culture conflicted fiercely with Western culture and so many various schools of thought disputed each other, Fang Persisted in the standard Position of Chinese culture, meanwhile, absorbed in Western Philosophy. So he started a new path for the Chinese philosophy's contemporary transformation and development. Some scholar pointed out that Fang's philosophical route represented a spiritual position called post-Wusi-Mind which comprehends West before, then returns to reconstruction of the Chinese tradition. Fang's philosophy embodied the characteristics that mixes East and West together, absorbs thoughts of various schools, and persists in the standard of Chinese culture. It represented a new trend of the reconstruction and development of Chinese philosophy in the contemporary time.
