The Issue of Truth and Christian Concept of Grace-Emergence of Patristic Philosophy in Perspective of Failure of Greek Philosophy

摘要

中文學界對希臘哲學過渡到教父哲學這段歷史的研究尚處於初始階段。我們需要對這個過渡進行深入的思想史分析。本文希望提供這個分析，涉及希臘哲學在真理問題上所陷入的懷疑主義困境，以及《約翰福音》的恩典真理論對真理困境的回應及其在認識論上的突破；進而展示早期教父努力運用恩典概念回應希臘哲學的真理困境時所產生的思想力量。在這個分析中，本文還希望呈現恩典概念的認識論意義及其思想史貢獻。

The transition from Greek philosophy to Patristic philosophy is an issue rarely addressed in Chinese scholarship. This paper is taking up the issue and examine its significance in the history of western thought. As an initial suggestion, firstly, I am analyzing into the conceptual connection between the impasse of Greek skepticism, into which Greek philosophers in their pursuits for truth get stuck, and the response to it provided by Christian thinkers in terms of the concept of grace. And then, I am endeavoring to demonstrate the concept of grace in the gospel of John, as well as perceived by early church fathers, and further its relevance to the issue of truth. One significant feature in their efforts is that they had shown the epistemological power of grace, which have then become the driving force in the development of western thought.
