摘要

具有成爲核心的都市與聚落的區域，乃爲有機的社會共同體，或複合體。它乃由統合、生態、階層與進化的概念所組合而成。這四個概念包涵以下的基本要素：主體（個人、企業、團體、政府）、機能（意識形態、社會結構－技衛、經濟、政治、文化）與自然環境。藉著這些要素的相互作用而表現各種活動，最後呈現於區域或地理區（包括認知、生活與實質的空間）的特徽。

A region with cities or settlements as an organic community or complex. It can be based on integrated, ecological hierarchical, and evolutional conceptions to describe its composition. These four conceptions consist of basic elements, such as subjects (individuals, enterprises, institutions and the government), functions (ideology, social structure-technology, economy, polity, culture) and natural environment. By means of the interaction among these elements, various activities present at apperance of the surface, and finally constitute the characters of a region or a geographical area (which can be divided into cognitional, living and physical. spaces).
