物的意義－一個交互論的觀點

交互論近幾年來在環境心理學界廣為討論，但大都停留在哲學或理論的層次。本文首先回顧環境心理學中「物的意義」的研究，其理論與經驗研究的差距。接著以作者針對台灣留美學生所做的經驗研究，說明其方法與研究結果。由於受篇幅所限，本文除說明研究之詮釋過程外，只討論物的意義的結構，最後以物質性、物的時間性與物的意義的變遷等面向未來說明人與物的交互作用。

The transactional paradigm has been advocated in environmental psychology within the past two decades. How-ever, the discussion basically remains at the philosophical or theoretical level. In this article, the author reviews studies of object meaning in the field of environmental psychology and discusses the discrepancy between theories and empirical studies. Then I use an empirical study on expreiences of Chinese students in their home and host country to illustrate the research method and a structure of object meaning. In conclusion, I discuss transactions between the person and its object in terms of temporality, the materiality of the object and changes of object meaning.
