摘要


本文按時序整理十八世紀迄今建築史在西方與中國專業教育中與設計實務的分合脈絡,以為未來建築史教育者的參考。梳理這三百年間的中西建築史教學史可以發現,建築史在西方的定位隨它與設計實務的依存關係不時變化;在學界與實務界運用話語相互輝映烘托的機制尚不及西方發達的華語地區,兩者的聯結則不那麼明顯。唯歷史並非單線,而更像班雅明(Walter Benjamin, 1892-1940)比喻的星座。西方與中國建築史教學史有多種詮釋的可能,本文的意見僅屬其一。

This essay seeks to chronologize the reciprocal relationship of architectural history and practice in Western and Chinese professional schools from the eighteenth century to the present. By exploring how the teaching of architectural history developed, it is found that, in the West, the status of architectural history varies dependent on whether it is required in order to practice architecture professionally. In the Chinese world, where historians and architects are less likely to collaborate, the interdependency between history and practice is not as strong as it is in the West. It is recognized that history is not a linear progress, but more like the concept of ”constellation” that was developed by Walter Benjamin (1892-1940). There is more than one way to understand the history of this subject, this essay presents just one of them.
