反思與探索臺灣大學建築與城鄉研究所的鄉村研究

摘要


本研究主要藉由回顧臺灣大學建築與城鄉研究所(簡稱建城所)的學位論文,探討建城所學生從事「鄉村研究」的主題和特質,以及未來擴展鄉村規劃研究之需求。為理解建城所在鄉村研究方面的圖像,本文先概述建城所在鄉村研究領域的變遷脈絡,再針對其與臺灣鄉村研究相關的學位論文予以分析歸納。研究結果指出,從成立脈絡來看,建城所創始之初即以「城市」作為主要研究場域,因而在研究觀點和課程設計上都有明顯的城市傾向,「鄉村研究」則隱身於「區域發展問題」之中,成為模糊的研究領域。而建城所的鄉村研究多來自研究者的「計畫參與」或「生命經驗」,並以特定的方法論作為開展鄉村研究的切入點,大抵呈現「宏觀尺度的批判、個案脈絡的爬梳、生命經驗的反思」等特質,並逐漸收斂出七項重要的研究主題。本文最後討論建城所既有鄉村研究之優缺和不足之處,並構思未來發展新鄉村規劃教育課程的可能架構。在當前全球農鄉議題風起雲湧,以及國內新國土計畫和地方創生政策積極推動之際,未來的鄉村發展與規劃教育課程,須結合基礎理論、專題研討,和案例實習,方能培養學生從事新鄉村規劃工作的整合和創新實踐能力。

Our article reviews the theses and dissertations of the rural planning field in the Graduate Institute of Building and Planning (BP in short) and suggests future directions and opportunities for the rural planning research and education in Taiwan. Ever since it first founded in 1976, the BP planning curricula and pedagogy established to form the perspectives of urban-centric mindsets. During that time, the Taiwanese society has been experiencing with the era of rapid urban urbanization between the 1970s and 1980s. Rural studies, however, submerged under the regional and city development spheres with only ambiguous roles. Notwithstanding, more or fewer postgraduates have been engaging in rural research and practice as their commitments and providing political and economic-based perspectives. This article, we first analyze the context influencing rural studies in BP that motivate and incubate BP rural studies. Secondly, based on our analysis, we conceptualize the dissertations of Taiwan rural studies in BP into seven topics to unearth the methodological and analytic features of how students doing rural studies in BP. In conclusion, we propose a pedagogical framework that integrates intellectual texts with practical workshops to nourish new ruralism planning training in BP.
