「黑血革命」潮流裡的黃遠生（1912-1915）

黃遠生是1904年甲辰科進士，屢向當道申請赴日留學，後入日本中央大學學習法律，奠定其法學素養，對於日後在報端經營政論文字起到很大的作用。1909年學成歸國，經遊學畢業考試，以「直隸州知州」留原省候補。不久，奏調郵傳部圖書通譯局，並於公暇之餘參與遠東通信社事務（負責北京通信），開始在《申報》、《時報》刊載其文字。1912年5月起，正式擔任《時報》駐京通信員，陸續發表一篇篇膾炙人口且成為其顯著特色風格的「遠生通信」，時人目為「報界奇才」，可謂名重一時。即以此時所建立的「遠生通信」口碑，黃氏後歷經《少年中國》、《庸言》、《申報》等言論陣地，均以通信文體為其號召，不但為其個人所奉行的「言論為活」理念譜寫最佳的典範作品，並為其短暫而絢爛的新聞撰述活動留下鮮明印記。這段印記的活絡與沉寂適足以與民初言論界（報紙）歷史發展相互觀照，對於把握身處轉型時代知識分子的思想趨向，或許是值得嘗試的一種歷史拼貼。

Huang Yuan-sheng acquired the title of Jinshi in 1904. After repeatedly applying for an opportunity to study in Japan, he finally went to Chuo University in Tokyo to study law. The legal literacy he obtained there helped him tremendously in managing political commentaries for newspapers in later years. In 1909, upon finishing his study and passing examinations, Huang returned to China and received the appointment as an alternate county magistrate of Zhili. Before long, he was transferred to the Book Translation Office under the Ministry of Posts and Communications. In his leisure time Huang was involved in the Far East News Agency, in charge of its Beijing correspondence, and began to publish writings in the newspapers Shibao and Shenbao. Starting from May 1912, Huang served as the official correspondent for Shibao in Beijing. His ＂Yuan-sheng Dispatch＂ became well-known and displayed a distinctive personal style. He was often called ＂the genius of the press＂, and was one of the most important journalists at the time. Huang subsequently took positions at several publications, such as Young China, Justice and Shenbao, attracting readers with his famous correspondence style of writing. His works not only came to exemplify his own idea of ＂press for life,＂ but also illuminated his short but splendid journalism career. Moreover, Huang's life represents an important piece in the historical collage of ideological trends that shaped Chinese intellectuals in a transitional era.
