美醜都在情和欲之間－李瓶兒與尤二姐的比較

《金瓶梅》和《紅樓夢》這兩部鉅著的關係非常密切，而二書中最為相似的人物要屬李瓶兒與尤二姐了。這兩位主角都不是貞潔女，可是在嫁了「如意郎」後，都變得和悅善良，甚至在吃了暗虧，生命遭受威脅時，也不敢吭聲反抗。怎麼理解這種性格的前後轉變呢？原來蘭陵笑笑生及曹雪芹是以情欲為契機來把握人物性格的變化的。倘將她們置於所生活的環境中細細考察，把握「情隨境遷」的線索，那麼不難發現這兩個人物的塑造實標誌著小說寫人的一大突破。她們都是那種稟性柔婉，然欲心強烈的女子，熾熱的情欲不僅和她們的命，也和她們的靈魂交織在一起。追求情愛的女性本能和身為人母的天性的滿足使她們志得意滿，稱心如意。只要男子在這些方面能滿足她們，那不管對方在人格、思想上有多少缺點，她們的感情都可以始終不渝。李瓶兒和尤二姐就是這種盲目癡情以至喪失理智的女性典型。本文探討她們前後性格的不同表現是由於生活的環境所造成的，而就在這性格的不同變化之中，實存在著人物特性的有機的內在聯繫，表現出人物性格在不同環境之下的合乎自然的發展。

Li Ping'er and Yau EIjie are two female characters in Lanling Xiaoxiaosheng's The Golden Lotus and Cao Xueqin's A Dream of Red Mansions respectively. The two of them are deemed to be opponents to the leading characters, Pan Jinlian and Wang Xifeng . Both Li Ping'er and You Erjie share many similarities; however, there are also some differences. They belong to a lower social class, but because of their beauty, they manage to rise to a higher social status. The dramas begin with their marriage and removal to the Ximen house and the Jia mansion. Although they are not nymphomaniacs, sex and love remain the main components of their dreams and aspirations. By nature, they are meek and believe that a woman's duty is to please her man. They regard themselves as sex instruments but not so much to gratify themselves as to please their husbands. Of the two, Li Ping'er seems to invite more criticism. Critics often argue that Li Ping'er's great love for Ximen Qing is not something easily reconcilable with her cruelty to her first two husbands. Changes in her character are primarily dictated by plot requirements so that she may serve as a complete foil to the aggressive and selfish Pan Jinlian. Some even think that this shows a split in her personality. Through a detail analysis, this article shows that, psychologically speaking, it is not entirely implausible that Li Ping'er should undergo this transformation as she repeatedly tells Ximen Qing that it is only with him that she finally found sexual fulfillment and, out of her supreme gratitude, she becomes a concerned and affectionate wife. With the birth of her -son Guan'ge, she is so contented that she not only tolerates Pan Jianlian's nastiness but submits to all sorts of humiliations. This happens to You Erjie too. As she comes from a poor family, she feels very honoured and grateful to Jia Lian who is of noble origin. Most important of all, the death of Guan'ge and the miscarriage of You Erjie's son have completely broken their spirits. They no longer care to keep up their struggle against Pan Jinlian and Wang Xifeng and resign themselves to ill-health and death, leaving their rivals in a position to regain their dominance.
