摘要
肺癌是個常見的、死亡率又高的癌症。它的早期發現不容易，病人來就醫時常已是第四期以上了。在1986年以前的分類，這是屬不可切除的（unresectable）。自1986年新的國際分類登場，第Ш期細分成Шa及Шb，提出Шa是可切除的，Шb是不可切除的觀念後，積極的手術治療在國外已造福了許多病患。 在花東這地區的民眾，一般知識水準不高，接受手術意願不大，實屬遺憾。所以提昇民眾的知識水準及手術意願以延長挽救更多的生命，是我們的課題。

The lung cancer is a common cancer that has a high mortality rate. Because its early symptoms are nonspecific that early diagnosis is difficult and when the patients visit the doctor, a large group of them are above the grade Ш. Before 1986 it is unresectable. But when the new international staging system for lung cancer classified the stage Ш to be Ш a and Ш b, Ш a to be respectable group, Ш b to be unresectable group in 1986, many patients had the chance of long term survival by surgery in the world. People of the east of Taiwan are very conservative and many of the mrefused the operation. So how to educate them and to elevate the desire of receiving operation in order to achieve a long term survival are our home work.
