In a retrospective study of 25 men having urodynamic evidence of bladder outlet obstruction secondary to small benign prostates (estimated weight less than 20 gm by TRS-P), 11 received TUI-P and 14 undertook TUR-P. Comparison of satisfactory rate and other parameters between the two groups were made. Similar rate of satisfaction based on subjective symptomatic improvement and objective uroflowmetric result was observed clinically. We conclude that TUI-P is an alternative, compared to TUR-P, for the treatment of small benign prostates with significant bladder outlet obstruction.
