In a series of 245 autopsy cases, we selected 10 pathologically verified cases of Alzheimer’s disease with cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA). Clinical courses vary from 0.5 to 6 years. These patients present some extent of mental retardation. At autopsy, some degree of brain atrophy are found. CAA can invade throughout cortex and leptomeninges vessels. Senile plaques (SP) often appear in the cortex, but neurofiblillary tangles (NFT) are usually observed in hippocampus. The more severe dementia, the more severe pathologic changes such as CAA, SP and NFT.
