Nonlinear Molecular Evolution from Fungal and Mammalian Pepsin-Like Proteinases

並列摘要

Under the aid of 3-D structures of proteins, the alignment of amino acid se-quences may be applied to the relationship of the distant related evolution, thus a kind of nonlinear molecular evolution is established. This paper analyzed and discussed the nonlinear molecular evolution from fungal and mammalian pepsin-like proteinases. It showed that all pepsin-like proteinases we studied may have a common ancestor based on having quite similar 3-D structures and basically similar function-proteolytic, but at least differentiating into rennin, pepsin, cathepsin C and D in mammals through gene duplication and following differentiation. Therefore, the limitation of molecu-lar clock may be unlocked, that is, a nonlinear molecular evolution is avail-able.
