利用改良式交錯沉積技術增強非均向光學薄膜之雙折射特性

Advanced Bideposition Technology of Anisotropic Thin Films with Enhanced Birefringence

摘要


本文結合斜向沉積與連續式交錯沉積技術鍍製二氧化鈦(TiO2)與五氧化二鉭(Ta2O5)之非均向薄膜,此薄膜以斜柱型態呈現,其主軸(z)方向是與基板法線方向夾一角度β。在光學特性上,此TiO2和Ta2O5的非均向薄膜之線性雙折射(linear birefringence Δn)在可見光波長632.8nm分別可增強至0.075與0.1428,而且隨著柱狀傾角越大,其雙折射效應也越大。另外,偏極轉換強度可達60%以上,且廣角達20度以上。可用於改變入射光之偏振態,於波板或其它相位延遲器均有很大的應用範圍。

In this work, Ta2O5 and TiO2 anisotropic thin films are fabricated by using advanced bideposition technology. By changing asymmetric deposition angle, the film with a tilted bideposition columnar structure exhibits enhanced birefringence for light incident normally. Moreover, the film is arranged in prism/anisotropic thin prism coupling system and the polarization conversion reflectance is measured over the critical angle under total reflection condition. High conversion efficiency (above 60%) remains in a wide range of incident angle.
