The growth rate and developmental rate of Propylaea japonica Thunberg is analyzed based on the age-stage, two-sex life table theory. The means and standard errors of the intrinsic rate of increase, the net reproductive rate, and the mean generation time for P. japonica are calculated by using the jackknife method. The period of egg, larva, pupa and adult for P. japonica are 3.2, 7.5, 4.2 and 48.8 days. The intrinsic rates of increase for P. japonica is 0.1253/day. The net reproductive rate for P. japonica is 77.5 offspring/female; and the mean length of a generation is 35.4 day. The stable age-stage distribution, expectation of life and reproductive values were also calculated.
