The operating speed of the transplanter related with the positioning accuracy of the rodless cylinder for the pneumatic transplanter. To control the positioning forthe flower-plug-seedling, the rodless cylinder was used in part one. From the results in part one, the positioning errors had positive correlation with the operating speed when using such a positioning system, which means that the plugging deviation became larger when the operating speed was increased. Due to the deflection of positioning system in part one, an additional positioning taper was designed to improve the positioning accuracy of rodless cylinder in this study; hence the operating speed of the transplanter was increased. The results showed that the positioning errors were below 1mm when an additional taper was used, which can correct the error automatically; hence the operating speed promoted 10 percent compared with that of without taper one.
