The 10Gbit HBA Hardware Design for iWARP Offloading Engine

摘要


透過10Gbit IP儲存網路卡來提供主機或伺服器,隨時掛載存取或備份大量資料,將成為網路速度跨入10Gbps時的網路資料儲存介面的趨勢。為了更快速有效率在儲存網路傳輸資料,並且降低主電腦或伺服器的CPU負載,以及達到資料傳輸過程中高效能低延遲的需求,建構iWARP是非常適合在這種平台上實現的,而RDMA可以降低關於傳輸處理,中介資料緩衝區複製與應用程式本文切換到多埠的Gigabit網路埠之瓶頸。因此設計一張具有高速的iWARP HBA,成為IP儲存網路領域裹的重要課題。

It becomes a trend to use IP Storage Area Network for mounting, accessing or backing up large amount of data in the future. The pursuit of the high speed static memory and the high performance low latency communication system makes WARP a very well suited target for research efforts and many ”proof of concept” applications. RDMA reduces the overhead associated with transport processing, intermediate buffer copies, and application context switches to multi-Gigabit Ethernet, so how to design a high speed WARP HBA is a very important task in Storage Area Network.
