摘要

目前的廣播網路與行動通訊網路，是兩個各自獨立運作的網路，彼此之間沒有關聯；其使用者也採用不同的終端接收設備，來接收各自的網路營運商所提供的服務。這些服務也配合相關之網路所使用的運載技術而進行設計。廣播網路基本上是以一對多的模式傳送訊息給使用者，因此，在傳送大量的訊息內容時，相對而言，比較經濟而有效率；行動通訊網路基本上是以一對一的模式，提供給使用者便利的互動服務功能。
廣播網路與行動通訊網路兩者在技術上具有互補的特性，如果可以把上述兩個不同的網路加以結合，將可以發揮不同網路各自所擁有的優勢，因此而有機會將網路上的負載做更好的處理，也能夠提供更新或更好的服務。本文將簡介全球主流之歐洲數位電視標準組織DVB所制定的手持設備數位視訊廣播標準－DVB-H與IP數據廣播－IP Datacast技術在行動數位電視之應用，行動數位電視實現了廣播網路與行動通訊網路雙網匯流的願景，廣播網路與行動通訊網路雙網匯流，相互截長補短，勢必成為未來的一個發展趨勢。

The broadcast networks and mobile communication networks are basically two independently operated networks for the time being. There is no connection to each other in between. The user would use different terminal devices to receive the services of different networks Those services were designed in accordance with the bearing technology of the correspondent networks. Basically, the broadcast networks deliver information to users in one-to-many model. Relatively speaking, they are more cost effective and efficient in delivering large amount of contents. While on the other hand, mobile communication networks, operated basically in one-to-one model, facilitate users with the convenience of interactive service functions.
The broadcast networks and mobile communication networks are complementary to each other in the characteristics of technologies. If we could converge both networks, it would be promising to combine the strengths of the different networks, to optimize the load they have to deal with, and to offer new or better services which would be impossible without the convergence of the broadcast and mobile communication networks. In this paper, we will introduce Digital Video Broadcasting Handheld (DVB-H) and IP Datacasting (IPDC) technologies, and their applications in mobile digital TV. Both DVB-H and IPDC were defined by The DVB Project and are accepted in most areas around the world. Mobile digital TV portrays the vision of the convergence of the broadcast and mobile services (CBMS).
