異質無線網路下之媒介獨立換手技術

Media Independent Handover in Heterogeneous Wireless Network

摘要


隨著無線技術及網際網路科技的蓬勃發展,透過無線傳輸來提供應用與服務已成為一項熱門的應用。人們希望行動裝置可以在各種不同的網路間任意地移動。為了讓使用者能夠享受服務不中斷,必須讓網路連線持續,那麼行動裝置必須在不同的基地台之間切換,行動裝置從一個網路移動到另一個網路之間的程序稱為換手(Handover)程序。但是不同的網路調變技術,網路存取點和訊號涵蓋範圍使得使用者在移動於異質性網路之間會產生服務中斷或資料遺失等現象,如何協調與管理不同媒介,對於進行異質性網路之間的換手將會是一大挑戰。本文將針對IEEE 802.21的媒介獨立換手機制做一介紹。

With the fast development of wireless and Internet technologies the provision of wireless applications and services has become a hot topic. Users hope that mobile device could be used between different networks. In order to allow users to enjoy services without interruption, the connection must continue, then the mobile device must switch between different base stations, from one network to another network, which is known as the Handover procedure. But the modulation of different network technologies, network access point and signal coverage make mobile users in heterogeneous networks encounter data loss or interruption of services and so on. How to coordinate the management of different media, in changing hands between the networks is a major challenge. This article introduces the IEEE 802.21 media independent mechanism for handover in heterogeneous wireless networks.
