Femtocell網路中區域通話功能及其換手方法

A Handover Method for Local Call Switch Function in Femtocell Network

摘要


毫微微蜂巢式基地台(Femtocell Access Point; FAP)是利用室內寬頻網路改善行動通訊網路涵蓋率不佳的問題,而行動裝置(User Equipment; UE)可透過毫微微蜂巢式基地台存取行動網路服務(包含語音與數據服務)。在毫微微蜂巢式網路上實作區域通話(Local Call Switch)與數據流量卸載(Traffic Offload)功能可以將使用者的語音資料與網際網路資料封包在Femto Gateway截流,讓資料封包不進入核心網路,減低核心網路的負擔。通訊裝置可能因為訊號衰弱而進行換手(handover)的動作,因此在毫微微蜂巢式網路實作區域通話會遇到兩個問題:1.區域通話建立的控制訊息不會進入核心網路,因此使用者在區域通話的情況下,換手到macro cell的基地台會產生通話中斷的現象。2.如果femtocell使用者與macro cell使用者通話時,macro cell的使用者換手到femto cell上,此時雖然符合區域通話的條件,但是由於通話是由核心網路所建立,因此無法使用區域通話功能。本論文提出的方法可以有效的解決因為換手所產生的上述兩個問題。

FAP/HNB (Femtocell Access Point/Home NodeB) utilizes the indoor broadband network to improve the poor coverage problem of mobile communication network. User equipments (UEs) can access mobile network via FAP for voice and data services. The local call switch and data traffic offload functions on femtocell network enable the shortcut routing of audio stream and Internet packet data within Femto Gateway. With this feature, some signaling and traffic data will not route to core network, hence reduce core network loading. However, handover is still unavoidable due to weak signal strength and two major issues arise in the local call switch enabled femtocells. First, the control signaling to establish a local call is not relayed to core network, therefore this call will be interrupted while one UE hands out to macro cell. Second, when UE1 in femtocell has a call setup with UE2 in macro cell and UE2 hands in the femtocell afterward, the call could be local switched to lower cost but still switched in core network because it is setup by core network. In this paper, we propose an efficient method to solve the above two issues occurred due to handover.
