Introduction of SC-FDMA in LTE Technology

摘要


3GPP的Long Term Evolution (LTE)是未來蜂巢式通訊的一個重要的標準。在實體層調變方法上與先前的版本有很大的不同在於,下鏈(Downlink)方面選擇正交分頻多工(OFDMA)技術,上鏈(Uplink)方面選擇單載波分頻多工(SC-FDMA)技術。正交分頻多工的技術已經被很多通訊標準所選用,主要優勢在於正交分頻多工的技術可以將一個寬頻的系統分成很多小子波,這樣對於處理多路徑(Multipath)的通道會相對容易處理。然而LTE在上鏈方面選擇單載波分頻多工(SC-FDMA)技術,而這部份技術的探討比較少,這篇文章主要就是介紹單載波分頻多工的技術,特別對於解碼部分作介紹。

3GPP Long Term Evolution (LTE) (also known as Evolved-UMTS Terrestrial Radio Access (E-UTRA or EUTRA)), is an important cellular communication standard. In LTE, SC-FDMA has been adopted for uplink transmission, whereas the OFDMA signaling format has been exploited for the downlink transmission. A working assumption in the 3GPP LTE standard is the use of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) on the downlink and SC-FDMA on the uplink. This trend has occurred since OFDM offers high performance and low terminal complexity for high data rate transmissions over bandwidth and power limited wireless channels. In this paper, we mainly discuss the comparison between SC-FDMA and OFDMA.
