寬頻無線接取之TCP效能模型與傳輸代理架構

A TCP Performance Model and Transport Agent Infrastructure for Broadband Wireless Access

摘要


寬頻無線發展自從3G,以至WiMAX、LTE等,甚至是未來的4G,網際網路已呈現寬頻無線化的必然趨勢。然而,網際網路的核心協定TCP,其設計之初並未考慮到採用無線連結的前提,加上工研院資通所在台灣高鐵使用WiMAX實驗得到的TCP傳輸低劣結果,顯然改善是必要的。本文針對TCP在寬頻無線的情況下建立效能模型,分析出傳輸結果與往返時間(RTT)的關聯,據此設計出傳輸代理架構,估計其可以達成數倍的傳輸率改善,並具有高彈性與低成本佈建的優勢。

Since the 3G, then WiMAX, LTE, and even the 4G in the future, broadband wireless development is the inevitable trend for the Internet with wireless. However, the core protocol of the Internet, TCP, initially was not designed with the wireless basis, and its throughput was poor with WiMAX for THSR experiment performed by ICL, ITRI. Obviously, the improvement is necessary. In this paper, the TCP performance model under broadband wireless is established, the relationship between transmission results and RTT is analyzed, and thus a transport agent infrastructure is designed. It's estimated that multiple times of the throughput can be achieved. In addition, the advantage of the infrastructure is highly flexible and low cost for deployment.
